A few words about our National Conference

conference photo.jpg

I hope most of you got the email regarding registration for the 2016 National Conference in Mobile, Ala. If not, you can find all of that information here.

Even though the conference is seven months away, we have been already working at planning out all the details for a few months in our attempt to make this the best conference experience you've ever had.

So beyond the information already available, here's a little bit more information.

First, what a bonus our new website has been. In the past, we have had to use third-party registration websites to help organize our conference online, but no more. Except for reserving your hotel room at the Renaissance, you don't ever have to leave our website. And, yes, you can even register on your phone.

We do plan to invite vendors to the conference this year. This is always a popular feature with many of you and we are happy to be able to provide that aspect of professional networking for you. If you would like to recommend a particular educational or service provider, please contact Korey Fiste, who will be handling the vendor exhibit for our office. Before contacting Korey, though, we have one requirement of these vendors: they must be willing to travel to ICD programs nationwide.

Don't forget we will be showing site videos -- up to five minutes in length each -- at the conference this year. I urge everyone to produce their own site video as a means of not only just showing off your program but also as a means for spreading Best Practices. I expect this will be one of the highlights of the conference.

As we did in New Orleans, we will be hosting a welcome reception. The reception will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15. All conference participants and their spouses or significant others are invited. Please let us know when you fill out your registration form how many you think will be attending, as this is helpful when making plans with the hotel.

When you are travelling in to Mobile, there are two airports I would consider. One is the Mobile Regional Airport. It's roughly 20 miles from the hotel, but close to a half-hour drive because of the stop-and-go traffic. The other is the Pensacola International Airport, which is about 60 miles away, but a tick or two under an hour's drive because you hop right on Interstate 10 at the airport and get off in Mobile.

Besides that, that's about it for now. Steph, Sean and I have all made a visit to the Renaissance Riverview. It's a great location and Mobile is ready to roll out the red carpet for us.

Like I said, we are already hard at work planning the entire conference, so if you have any thoughts, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
